Heart appeal

Help us continue to provide a heart for the community, inspired by God’s love.

Last year, we identified one of our mission aims as:

Catching the visionTo provide a heart for the community inspired by God’s love.

We recognised that this means two things:

- To provide a spiritual heart, where prayer, worship, learning and sending out are most important

 - To provide a physical heart, where church groups and other organisations in the community provide activities for everyone.

Health check-up

As with our own hearts, our church heart has regular check-ups (which the Church of England calls Quinquennial inspections).

Thanks to the hard work of members of the congregation, the inside of the church is in good condition. However, the outside is showing signs of ageing and weathering and needs repair.

Cost of repairs

Broken stonework

We have received several quotes for the work and our   `Quinquennial architect' has recommended that we accept a quote for £35,000 from Pierra Restoration Ltd.

Money raised so far

We have raised £22,361, from money put aside over the years into our repair fund, and from generous donations.

Money still to raise: £13,000.

Starting the work

The church council have recommended that the work be carried out in two phases. The reasons for this are:

- Safety and the risk of loose masonry falling on people;Broken arch

- Winter: some of the work needs to be carried out before the winter frosts;

- VAT, which will be going up in January 2011, resulting in a rise in costs.

Phase 1

We are pleased to report that Phase 1 has been completed and completely paid for. Praise God.

Phase 2

More broken stoneworkThe remaining work should take place as soon we have raised all the money – ideally by the end of next year.

How you can help

Please consider prayerfully what you can give towards ensuring that our church building remains in good repair and can continue to provide a much needed heart for the community, inspired by God’s love.

How to give

Please send your gift to us at the address below, or use a gift aid envelope labelled ‘PhASE 2’, available from the back of church.  Thank you.

Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work.   2 Corinthians 9: 7-8
